Camilla is looking for them...

My Missing Love Poems

Where would you go
if you were poetry?

I've looked high
and low
for you.

Maybe I pressed you
like petals inside a book?

Come on! I've looked everywhere

like, you know,

Old Mother Hubbard,
(remember her?)

but my spirit's still
bone-bare.

Oh words on a page--reveal yourself!

I wrote them first in joy,
then anger,
then despair,
until they exploded
and disappeared
taking us, breathless

and speechless

into that terrible realm

where touch and memory meet,

where I’m alone

face-down in silence

and gasping for air.

I started to respond to this poem before I left for Houston but my computer was not cooperating. In my eyes this is one of your best. I have read it aloud a number of times and it is beautifully crafted. It to me is a poem about our lifelong battle with time. As it slips away we are frustrated with projects and relationships that begin with promise and end in despair. As we grow older new beginnings are more elusive.

Love it. First read I transposed a lover over the object of the poem and second read I realized it was poems you were talking about. Works both ways and now I see it as both. Beautiful.

A wonderful and intriguing poem, quite beautiful, especially since it engages with the reader's dual landscape of mind and vision.

Camilla, you look so-o-o-o-o comfortable, too!
